Appreciative Inquiry is David Cooperrider's model of change management, developed at Case Western Reserve University in the 80's, as a response to the existing models which only resolved the problem and avoided the deficiencies.
As British Airways proposed "we want that every passenger arrives at their destination with their baggage". This was the reframing of A.I. Our objective is: "excellence in service".
Appreciative Coaching follows this process and is "a coaching method where the appreciation of achieved success comes into its own. Troubleshooting focuses on problems.
Consequently, Appreciative Coaching shifts the focus, and identifies as well as creates what you want as an end result. For example, an energizing springboard into the future."
At the start of each Appreciative Coaching session, the focus is also placed on asking appreciative standard questions.
The objective of this process is to locate at repeating past successes and find the core values that provide this energy force.
Or: to place the focus on what happens when things are at their best (individual, team, organizations, and companies).
Positive feelings are generated, there is increased energy and a deeper connection with yourself and others.
